Why have we added an intimate area microbiome balance product to our 50+ range?
A healthy microbiome is an important aspect in maintaining normal urinary function.
 
Studies show that when women go through the menopause, along with hormonal and epithelial changes, active friendly bacteria known as Lactobacilli also decrease.
The intimate area microbiome is a unique eco-system and is dominated by various lactobacillus species which help keep the area healthy. The Lactobacillus produce lactic acid which helps maintain the correct PH, it also produces antimicrobials such as bacteriocin and hydrogen peroxide that help stop the growth of yeast and other organisms.
External influences such as irritants, or for example antibiotics, can also leave the microbiome compromised.
There is numerous substantiated research which shows that women who have certain strains of active bacteria in their microbiome experience less UTI (Urinary Tract Infection).
